What We Believe

Wow, what a big topic! We're happy to answer this important question, especially in today's world of "choices." Let's start with our current "motto" that you're likely to hear often around these parts:

"It's not about you, it's not about me, it's about Him!"
That about covers it, eh? :-)

Do we always hit the mark? Nah, but not for lack of trying. You'll also often hear: "We're not a body of perfect Christians, but we serve the perfect One!" We try not to take ourselves too seriously, but expect and keep each other pointed directly at our Lord and Savior, taking Him and His call on our lives seriously.

God

Speaking of our Lord and Savior... As revealed in His Word, the Bible, there is only one God, revealed in three distinct Persons: God, the Father; God, the Son (Jesus); and God, the Holy Spirit. One and only one God, three distinct Persons. You could spend an entire lifetime trying to wrap a human brain around the essence and nature of our eternal God, but in the end we take Him for exactly Who and What He says He is!

His Son

Ah, the question: "Why would God send His only Son, Jesus, to become a man, live among us, and ultimately be punished and die for a crime He never committed?" Answer that and you're knocking on heaven's door...

God has revealed to us through His Word (the Bible) that, even though His dearly loved creation, we have each personally created a barrier between us and Him: that barrier is called sin. It's driven an eternal wedge between a holy and perfect Father and His rebellious children.

Know anyone who's never ignored, rationalized or just plain rebelled against God and His perfect law? Neither do we. Even though we knew it was wrong, we've all chosen to look and walk away from God at some time: that's sin.

Okay, so we've (repeatedly) broken the biggest Law in the universe. Now what? There was only one way for perfect justice to be served and to fulfill God's desire for us to dwell with Him in heaven for eternity: someone had to pay the eternal price demanded by our trespasses. Only an eternal, holy and perfect God could ever measure up to the task, and Jesus was willing.

Living a sinless life, He paid the price for our sin by substituting Himself in our place on the cross--accepting the punishment and dying in our place. Through faith alone in Him--trusting completely in His finished work on the cross and his free gift of forgiveness to those who sincerely turn to Him--even the guilty (that's us) can dwell with a holy God. Forever!

Our choices left us eternally separated from a holy God; His choice made a way back. Now we can choose a living, personal relationship with the One true God!

The Holy Spirit

The third Person of the Godhead, He is the Spirit of God who today dwells in the heart of every Christian believer! In addition to convicting men of sin, righteousness and of judgment, He enlightens, comforts, guides and empowers believers, making us more and more like Jesus as we listen to Him!

The Bible

There's no other written work in the history of man that compares--not even close! Only the Bible can demonstrate that it's Divine in origin. It's very safe to say that we consider and treat God's Word, the Bible as coming directly from Him, without any mixture of error. In the end, it's our final authority.

Are there areas in His Word that don't seem "black and white?" Sure, but we're busy focusing on learning and applying what He's so clearly laid-out for us, His children. God has written and preserved His Word through the centuries for us... that should take the rest of our lives!

His Church

Hardly a Sunday goes by where we're not reminded that Jesus is returning soon for His bride, the church. That would be the local body of baptized believers, worshiping, serving and learning from Him. What a crew, eh? :-)

Like any healthy relationship, it takes time, effort, humility, loyalty, healthy boundaries and a close walk with Jesus, but the pay-off in genuine, caring relationships (not to mention the benefits of obeying Jesus) is worth it!

Perfect? One day. But for now, with a cooperative spirit and Jesus on our side, we'll continue to grow together until the day He returns to take us home with Him.
